One day, it was in early summer of 1999, during one of our regular round trips from Gardnerville to the local town of Genoa in Nevada, we saw a cute donkey standing behind a fence and looking friendly at us. She was alone there. My mom insisted on stopping and visiting her.
To tell the truth, I was not very much interested in the whole thing at that time, but my mom was the boss. So I parked our car on the side of Foothill road next to the fence, and we both slowly approached Pumpkin. There was something about her that immediately took our attention -- her unique personality.
It's been a love ever since and the beginning of our wonderful, lasting friendship!
